Note Taking and Executive Skills

Note taking is an incredibly vital skill that most of us were not taught in school. As part of Star Tutoring Centers' focus on Executive Functioning Skills, we make sure to equip each of our students with the ability to take this skill and apply it where it really matters. Here's what the research says about note-taking.

Also, sometimes it's better to slow down! Studies show that students tend to learn better when they take less notes by hand (as opposed to more notes by computer). While fact-based assessments comes out nearly the same, inference based assessments were better for those students that took fewer notes by hand than students who took comprehensive (near verbatim) notes by computer.
