The ISEE (independent school entrance exams) is used for admission into many private schools in Dallas. There is an ISEE option for grade levels 2nd–12th grade. Most schools require the scores to be received by February or March so the popular test dates tend to be in January and February. If you are applying to a private school for next year, make sure to check their admissions page to understand deadlines.
The ISEE has four levels for entrance into a certain grade: the Primary level (grades 2-4); Lower Level (grades 5-6); Middle Level (grades 7-8); and Upper Level (grades 9-12). All ISEEs consist of five sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics Achievement, and a 30-minute essay. The essay is not part of the numerical scoring, but it can be sent with your scores to the schools you are applying to.
