As March comes to a close, we thought it would be fun to share some facts about the infamous day of April 1st. Here are some facts about April Fools’ Day (from Fun Kids):
April Fools’ Day is celebrated in all parts of the world, including Greece, India, Poland, the US, and more! It’s not just a US custom!
Since the 1700s, there have been informal rules saying you are supposed to stop playing pranks by 12 PM on April Fools’ Day. The reasons for this “rule” are uncertain!
The Ancient Romans used to have a holiday that was very similar to April Fools’ Day. The holiday was called Hilaria.
According to some historians, the tradition of playing pranks on each other each April 1st dates back to 1582.
In Scotland, Gowkie Day or Hunt the Gowk (which is April Fools' Day for us) is celebrated for not one, but two days.
